Pigeon Forge Museums
Among our dozens of wonderful attractions are our many fascinating museums. You and your kids will want to visit museums like the Dinosaur Walk Museum, Carbo's Police Museum, the Smoky Mountain Car Museum, the Veteran's Memorial Museum, the Elvis Museum, and the amazing Wonderworks. Museums like these truly make learning fun.
To discuss a few...
The Smoky Mountain Car Museum has been open since 1956. Check out cars owned by celebrities, such as Elvis Presley's Mercedes Benz, and cars used in movies, such as James Bond's Aston Martin from Goldfinger and Thunderball. Take a trip into the past and see cars that ran on steam. There are even electric cars to view. Vehicles are part of our evryday life so we take them for granted. Learn about what all goes into them at the Smoky Mountain Car Museum.
The Dinosuar Walk Museum is not your everyday fossil museum. Inside you will find actual life-sized sculptures of the beasts that once ruled the earth. There are replicas of everything from the huge T-rex to the little Microraptor. After hanging out with the dinosaurs, come play at the Fossil Dig and watch movies that bring the dinosaurs to life. Fun and educational for everyone.
Wonderworks, Tennessee's only upside down attraction, bills itself as an amusement park for the mind. With over 150 different exhibits in 55,000 square-feet, they are certainly that. There are seven different areas to go through. Start out in the Disaster Zone where you can experience what a 5.3 earthquake feels like . From there, move into their Challenge Zone. Here you test your physical strength with rock climbing, and their upside down bicycle, as well as your psychological endurance. Can you hold still while 3,500 sharp nails rise beneath you on their bed of nails? Their Space Zone is set up beautifully! Check out an animated, educational video in 3D. Try your hand at landing the Discovery Space Shuttle. The Sound and Light Zone is so much fun! Sit in a dark, sound-proof booth and let your sense of hearing work at its best. Walk across a floor with images that react to your steps. Definitely spend some time at their Recollections wall where you can see what your shadow looks like, after you've walked away from it. After so much, you wouldn't think it could get any better, but you would be surprised. In the Control Room you can design your own virtual roller coaster...and then ride it! Put as many loops, spins, spirals, as you can stomach and then hop in the simulator booth to experience it. Also in the Control Room, is a separate Bubble Room where you can make bubbles of all shapes and sizes, including ones you can fit inside of. The Far Out Illusion Gallery will amaze you. Using perception and perspective, your mind views the art in a whole different way. The 10,000 square-foot Lazer Tag and arcade area is sure to keep you busy for quite a while. With dozens of games and a huge prize redemption counter, your sure to have a fun time. On the way out, head through the gift shop and pick up a souvenir to remember your time in the upside down laboratory in Tennessee. Make sure to reserve your tickets for the Wonderworks dinner show, "Hoot & Holler". Their excellent show and great food make for a fun-filled evening to match the day at Wonderworks.
After your days filled with adventure an your mind well exercised, you'll want to return to your Bear Foot Mountain cabin rental for a long nap or an evening with the family. Catch a quick forty winks in your large, comfortable bed or relax in your hot tub. Then have a fun evening relaxing in your wonderful, spacious Bear Foot Mountain vacation rental, popping popcorn, watching movies or admiring the gorgeous late night view from your porch.
